Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Ramesh Dhawala directed the officers to intensify the crusade against the use of fake ration cards in the state. He said that at present the number of ration cards in the State count up to 74 lakh which is more than the population of the State.

The Minister appealed to the persons who posses fake ration cards to deposit their cards to the concerned Panchayat Pradhan/ Panchayat Secretary in the rural areas or District Controller, Food &Civil Supplies Department in the urban areas. He further said that no action would be initiated against persons who deposit their fake ration cards to the above mentioned authorities within stipulated time.

Dhawala said that due to discrepancy in the population of State and number of fake ration cards, the allocated quota of food items, levy sugar and kerosene oil was not sufficient to the consumers of the State.
