Harinder Hira, Additional Chief Secretary today listened to problems of the entrepreneurs of the Una district and assured to solve them on priority. She also held a meeting with the officers of the Industries department to take stock of the industrial development in Una district. Harinder Hira urged the industrialists to ensure that 70 percent employment in the industrial units are given to Himachalis and added that procurement of NOC from Labour and Employment department was mandatory before employing non Himachalis, in case of non availability of Himachali candidates, who fulfilled the eligibility conditions for employment. He said that this condition should be implemented strictly and government could seek report in this connection from the industrial units anytime. She asked the managements of the industrial units to provide appropriate transport and accommodation facilities to their employees.
Additional Chief Secretary informed that an investment of Rs 1010 crore had been made by setting up 2019 industrial units in the district. Employment to 13999 persons had been provided in these units out of which 11825 were Himachalis , she added. She further said that investments worth Rs 451.24 crore through 5 large scale industries, Rs 247.64 crore through 16 medium , Rs 240 crore through 96 Small scale and Rs 71.83 crore through 1974 micro industrial units had been made in the district so far.
She also visited various industrial units and interacted with the workers, who apprised her about the facilities being extended by the managements.
Deputy Commissioner K.R. Bharti, Jaygopal Verma, General Manager, DIC and other officers of the industries department and office bearers of Mehatpur, Tahliwal , Gagret and Amb Industrial Associations attended the meeting.
