Excise and Taxation Department are facing stiff opposition from the Ratiyor villagers falling under Dhabota panchayat in Nalagarh subdivision. Locals are opposing for the planned tax barrier at Ratiyor. Officials including AETC RD Janartha, tehsildaar RD Harnot, ETO Rajiv Sharma, and policemen had erected the barrier, but opposing the department’s move villagers sat on a dharna on the road. Later officials had to suspend the work. Ratiyor natives clarify that barrier will create hassles for locals and their visiting relatives and will add another financial burden for them. Although, official said that the locals would be allowed free entry, yet adamant villagers did not budge.
It was department’s fourth attempt to set up a barrier here, which had been auctioned for Rs 8 crore.
