The BROs 38 BRTF has commenced mission Rohtang snow clearance operations today from Gulaba 21Kms to open 421 kms long Manali-Leh highway, which was closed in December for vehicular traffic due to heavy snowfall. The snow clearance operation started after performing a puja by officiating commander Mr. V K Singh. Like every year this year also it is once again a real testing time for the BRO to open this hazardous road, which is under thick blanket of snow ranging from 8 feet to 20 feet including many high passes. Commander VK singh told that BRO has started snow clearance from both sides of Manali and Keylong simultaneously. V K Singh said the BRO has provided every facility. Commander also revealed that from Manali side 3 dozers and one snow cutter and from Keylong side 3 dozers have been deployed to open Rohtang by the 15th of April 2011. He said that, it will be an uphill task to provide smooth passage to army convoys and civil population as the road crosses through Rohtang Baralacha, Lachalung and tanglangla.
