Nerwa: Congress senior leader Virbhadra Singh accused Chopal legislature Balbir Singh Verma for betraying people of Chopal constituency by joining hands with the BJP.
Balbir Verma, who won the 2012 Vidhan Sabha election as an independent candidate, joined the Virbhadra Singh led Government as an associate member. However, few months back, he resigned and joined BJP.
The Chief Minister, while addressing the public meeting at Nerwa in Chopal constituency today, said that it was unfortunate that the Chopal sitting MLA could not digest the development of the area and betrayed the people by joining hands with the BJP.
He said the MLA lured the people for his selfish motives and now betrayed them just before the elections. He added that anyone who believes in purchasing votes can never be a true benefactor of people. The Chief Minister stated
“after last Assembly elections, Chopal MLA Balbir Verma came to me and urged for becoming associate member of congress. Later, he started taking the credit of development in Chopal to himself and blamed me for carrying out development only in Rampur and Rohru region.”
The people of the state were not saleable, said the Chief Minister adding that they were loyal to others and true believers of their local deities. They believe in building trust and relations and not betray their fellow beings. I hope the people of Chopal will not fall prey to false promises of anyone in future, he further added.
Dr. Subhash Manglet, in his address, listed developments of the area during last five years. Member, HPCC, Rajnish Kimta also address the rally and blamed the Union Government for selling dreams to the people of the country.
Earlier, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh dedicated and laid foundation stones of projects worth Rs.78 crore. He dedicated the new Tehsil at. He dedicated and opened Mukhya Mantri Model Shahid Shyam Singh Bhikta Government Senior Secondary School at Nerwa and Mukhya Mantri Model GSSS Kupvi.
The Chief Minister laid foundation stones of projects including Neri Bridge to Thundal road to cost Rs 6.09 crore, Chopal to Kumbra road to cost Rs 5.50 crore, Sagroti -Tikkari-Maneoty road to cost Rs 4.93 crore, Kupvi-Mashot road to cost Rs 11.34 crore, Throch to Madhana road to cost Rs 5.40 crore, Antrauli to Bandur road to cost Rs 3.07 crore, mettaling and tarring of Batera to Halau road to cost Rs 3.68 crore, Pulbahal to Naoni road to cost Rs 3.02 crore. He laid foundation stones of Nerwa-Bijmal road, to cost rupees four crore, Mundla-Sari road to cost Rs 1.48 crore, metalling and tarring of Kiarnoo-Kothi-Dhanag-Ranvi road to cost Rs 3.12 crore, metalling and tarring of Batera-Kandal and Timvi-Lachog road.
He also laid foundation stone of Lift Irrigation Supply Scheme for villages Ranjit and Dhadu for horticulture land to cost Rs 5.54 crore to irrigate catchment area of around 250 hectare with 381 beneficiaries. He laid foundation stone of Lift Irrigation Scheme from Jarwa to Jandaur in GP Pujarli to be completed with an outlay of Rs 1.36 crore and Lift Irrigation Scheme for GP Kulag for Noura-Boura in Kupvi to cost Rs. 6.86 crore to cover 331 hectare of land with 530 beneficiaries.
The Chief Minister inaugurated Lift Water Supply Scheme for villages Gagna-Badlog in GP Nanhar, and Khund Neol. He inaugurated Bhalu to Dhatoli road completed with an outlay of Rs. 6.56 crore and Shwala to Dakahi road completed with a cost of Rs. 1.50 crore.
