Deputy Commissioner, Kullu clear that the State Government is aware to the situation of traffic congestion and pollution on Manali-Rohtang area and has taken preventive steps at the highest level.
He said that the administration is constantly keeping an eye upon the tourist traffic and ensured that tourists were not stranded en-route Rohtang Pass and particularly at the landslips points on the way. He said that the Chief Secretary in pursuant to the notice of Himachal Pradesh High Court has conducted various meetings at State level and at Manali itself to take measures for clearance of Manali-Rohtang road as to avoid inconvenience to the visitors.
He said that a meeting was also convened with representatives of Hoteliers Association, Manali, Taxi and Tour Operators, Commander 38 BRTF, President MC Manali and local officials in which valuable suggestions were given and cooperation sought for restricting traffic congestion on Manali Rohtang route. He said that a notification has also been issued for restricting vehicles registered outside the State of H.P. to ply on Kothi to Rohtang section.
