Aimed at promoting the adventure tourism potential of Himachal Pradesh, the Tourism Development Corporation and Department of Tourism & Civil Aviation in collaboration with the Indian Air Force successfully organized the joint adventure expedition in the state.
The event organized from 12-17th June, 2017 witnessed various adventure activities and huge participation of tourists and local people. This was the first of its kind event in collaboration with the Indian Air Force to showcase adventure opportunities in Himachal a well as to encourage our young generation for joining Indian Air Force services. Himachal Tourism invited students, Police and ITBP personnel, local cycling Associations, hotel and restaurant Associations, National and local media, travel writers and local dignitaries to be part of this expedition.
The skydiving and parasailing was held at Jubber Hatti Airport, Shimla. The Mountain Terrain Bike expedition from Shimla to Tattapani was marked by large number of tourists and locals public. The local Cycling Association and other cyclists also joined this expedition with dare devils of Indian Air Force up to Mashobra. The expedition was continued with Paragliding at Bir Billing, trekking and camping from Manali to Beas Kund which finished off with River Rafting activity at Kullu on 17 June.
HPTDC also conducted an adventure tour for Indian Navy officers recently where apart from providing boarding lodging and transportation, various adventure activities like river rafting, trekking, mountain climbing, rappelling and river crossing were conducted. The HPTDC is now planning to introduce more activity based packages for adventure lovers in coming days. Himachal Tourism will organize more expeditions in future to explore possibilities of additional more adventure activities in the State.
HPTDC has also introduced adventure tourism packages various variety of adventure activates and integrated with boarding, lodging and transportation. It will soon tie up with various agencies at different parts of the State to carry out adventure activities as per needs and preference of the guests.
It is noteworthy that the HPTDC has successfully hosted adventure tourism packages to Indian naval forces and Indian Air Forces. Apart from providing quality food, accommodation and transport services, HPTDC provided trekking, camping, river rafting, rappelling, river crossing, para gliding and mountain biking activities to the armed forces. The trained guides are provided by HPTDC for adventure tour packages and it is determined to promote adventure tourism potential of the State in bigger way. It will tie up with certified agencies carrying out adventure activities in different parts of the State that will be integrated with boarding, lodging and transportation to offer attractive packages at nominal prices.
The adventure sport opportunities are being offered in various parts of the state. Trekking routes have been started from Bara to Bhangal trek, Pin Parvati, Kinnaur to Kailash, Spiti to Garhwal, Bharmour to Padum, Hatu Peak, Narkanda, Kupper Peak, Kharapthar, Chur Chandni Peak, Sirmour and Shali Devi Peak, Shimla. The camping opportunities are available at Sarchu in Lahaul, Sangla and Kalpa in Kinnaur and Kazza in Spiti. The camps are also being run by Youth Association of India at Dalhousie, Kullu and Manali whereas in private sector, the camps are being run at Baspa in Sangla valley, Kalpa in Kinnaur, Tabo in Spiti, Al Hilal (Taragarh) and Dharamshala in Kangra, Shoja near Kullu, Mashobra and Baldian near Shimla.
The Heliskiing facilities have been made available at DeoTibba, Rohtang pass, Chanderkhani pass, Hanuman Tibba and Chandrakhani pass. The mountain and biking and motor biking routes include Leh-Manali highway, Manali-Damphug, Tabo-Kaza, Kaza-Losar, Shimla-Rampur and Rampur-Sangla. The mountain motorcycling has been promoted on Manali-Leh and Lahaul-Spiti routes besides mountaineering and rock climbing at Manali. Himachal Tourism also offering opportunities for Rappelling at Manali, Shitidhar peaks, Beas Kund region, Chandrabhag range, Pirpanjal, Dhauladhar range, foot hills of Hanuman Tibba, Deo Tibba, Giriganga and Chanshal.
The world class paragliding facilities have been developed at Bir in Kangra valley, Bijli Mahadeo, Manali and Solang valley in Kullu district, Skiing at Solang valley, Narkanda while possibilities are being explored at Kuppar, Kharapathar. Moreover, the opportunities are also being offered for Jeep Safari, Zorbing and Angling at various places. River rafting and other water sports activities are other attractions being offered in different rivers of the state.
