Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government has disbursed approximately ₹35.68 crore to 16,877 orchardists under the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) during 2026, providing financial support to apple growers across the state.
A spokesperson for the Himachal Pradesh Horticultural Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation (HPMC) said that, in accordance with the state government’s guidelines, the corporation had disbursed ₹17.53 crore in cash and provided horticultural inputs worth ₹18.15 crore. These inputs include Horticultural Mineral Oil (HMO), TSO, fertilisers, machinery and other materials.
The spokesperson added that payment claims amounting to ₹12.13 crore, relating to 7,059 orchardists, were currently being processed.
He said the state government was committed to protecting the interests of orchardists and ensuring timely payments under the scheme.
HPMC announces deadlines for pending claims
To streamline the payment process and ensure transparency, the HPMC Board of Directors fixed deadlines for submitting pending MIS claims during its 222nd meeting held on October 8, 2026.
According to the corporation, orchardists who supplied apples under MIS-2024 and earlier schemes but have not submitted their payment claims must do so by October 30, 2026.
For orchardists who supplied apples under MIS-2025, the deadlines have been divided according to the quantity supplied.
Those who supplied up to 30 bags of apples must submit their pending claims by November 15, 2026. Orchardists who supplied between 31 and 100 bags and have not yet filed their claims must do so by November 30, 2026.
The deadlines aim to help the corporation determine its outstanding financial liabilities, streamline claim submissions and establish a transparent, time-bound payment mechanism.
The HPMC has issued instructions to all concerned branches to process pending claims systematically and transparently. Branches have been directed to maintain proper records of claims received and supporting documents submitted by orchardists.
Maintaining a seniority register for all pending claims has also been made mandatory. Once the required documents are received, each claim will be assigned a serial number, and the relevant details will be entered in the register to ensure that claims are recorded and processed in the prescribed order.
The corporation has further directed its branches to establish arrangements for providing prompt and convenient services to orchardists.
The HPMC spokesperson appealed to all concerned orchardists to adhere to the prescribed deadlines and submit their pending payment claims, along with the required documents, to their respective HPMC branches well in advance.
He said timely submission of claims would facilitate verification and help ensure that payments were processed in accordance with the applicable rules.
