Shimla: Demanding resignation of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh in the wake of the CBI case and subsequent raids conducted at his residences, opposition BJP today submitted a memorandum with Governor Archarya Devvrat at Raj Bhawan demanding dismissal of the Congress government to ensure a free and fair probe into the charges against Virbhadra Singh.
BJP delegation of legislatures and party leaders led by leader of opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal, state party president Satpal Satti and state party in-charge Srikant Sharma met Governor and apprised him about the CBI raids and FIR against the Chief Minister, and sought his immediate intervention for the fair investigation.
BJP stated the Chief Minister should have tendered his resignation on moral ground for the fair investigation, but instead attempting to create legal hurdles to delay the investigations.
However, state Congress has ridiculed the BJP’s move of submitting memorandum to the Governor. Irrigation and Public Health Minister Vidya Stokes and Industries Minister Mukesh Agnihotri have accused the BJP for trying to destabilize the democratically elected government and dishonour the mandate given by the people of the State. HPCC Chief Spokesperson Naresh Chauhan also condemned the BJP’s memorandum and termed it their sheer frustration.
Earlier today, the BJP’s legislature party charted out strategy on the issue. The party has decided to take the battle up to Delhi. The BJP has decided to hold mass protests and rallies across the state to expose the alleged wrongdoing of the Chief Minister and will approach President of India to force the Chief Minister to resign immediately.
