Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee on Wednesday criticised the move of opposition for staging walkout on second consecutive day in Vidhan Sabha and thereby not allowing the assembly to function properly.
In a press communiqué HPCC Spokesperson Naresh Chauhan said that the walkouts by BJP in Himachal assembly seems a well thought strategy as they were shying away from debate on issues related to general public and instead, they are staging walkout on frivolous issues.
“It is first time in the history of Himachal Pradesh Vidhansabha that any opposition party had staged walkout in the midst of Governor’s speech by former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and other BJP leaders which is against the set parliamentary norms. Further, they seems to be following personal vendetta against Chief Minister by raising such issues that are sub judice,” Chauhan said, adding that the opposition party is setting bad precedent by doing so.
Chauhan said that BJP should behave like a responsible opposition party as not only state government but they are also responsible for ensuring smooth passage of budget session and raising the issues related to general public of the state.
“It seems that the BJP is running from debate on the issues relating to general public and they have decided to play negative politics during the entire Budget session of Vidhansabha as they had done during the six day long assembly session that was held in Dharamshala in December last year,” HPCC spokesperson said.
He said that the opposition was staging walkouts on small and petty issues while they should be focussing more on the issues concerning the general public of the state.
