Himachal Police have arrested a suspected Chinese spy from McLeodganj. Suspected spy is Tibetan and has been identified as Pema Tsering. He was arrested following a tip-off from the Tibetan government-in-exile.
Kangra SP Balbir Thakur confirmed the development and said that police have been keeping tabs on his activities after receiving a complaint from Tibetan security agencies. He said that Tsering had reached India in 2009 via Nepal and had been living in Delhi before moving to Dharamsala a few days ago.
Police claimed that Tsering was a member of the People’s Liberation Army of China and had also served in the People’s Armed Police Force. Kangra Police have recovered an Indian voter ID and Aadhar card from his possession, which were issued from Delhi.
SP said that Police is verifying the validity of the documents recovered from his possession and whether he has obtained Indian citizenship as he possessed an Indian voter ID card.
