Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC), in its meeting at Rajiv Bhawan, Shimla, took some major decisions aimed at countering BJP propaganda, gearing up its membership drive and making people at the grassroots aware about irregularities like phone tapping committed during the BJP regime.
AICC general secretary Birender Singh Chaudhary revealed to set up a six-member task force to counter BJP propaganda against the Congress regime and bring before the people the real picture. He said that proper mechanism would also to place to ensure the perfect coordination between the government and the party. He said that every party worker would have to ensure the good results and block and district Congress committee chiefs would have to justify their posts. He asked party workers to gear up for the Lok Sabha election and ensures all four Lok Sabha seats.
State Congress president Thakur Sukhvinder Singh (Sukhu) said the party set-up would take up to the village level the issue of phone tapping and make people aware about the illegal act. He also lambasted at the BJP for changing many central sponsored schemes. He said that the Congress had named schemes after leaders who had sacrificed their lives for the nation and made a significant contribution.
State Congress has also decided to launch membership drive and to make effective, party has appointed former legislator Harbhajan Singh Bhajji as state coordinator for it.
