BJP General Secretary Ram Sarup Sharma has added his name to the list, who has dragged Virbhadra Singh’s name before Nov 4 assembly poll. Call it a publicity stunt or tactic to get electors attention in the election, Sharma has leveled serious allegation against five times Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.
In his press communiqué, BJP leader has alleged that during his more than three years’ tenure as Union Steel Minister and later as Union Minister for Small Industries Virbhadra Singh did nothing for the State except for enjoying the luxury of power and indulging in alleged corruption.
Ram Sarup Sharma said that as Steel Minister Virbhadra Singh had announced opening of a Steel Yard at Kandrori in Kangra district, but during the last four years, nothing has been done. Ram Sarup Sharma alleged that during his tenure as Minister for Small Industries, his contribution for the development of small industries in the State was a big zero. All that he did during this period was politicking, working against the State Congress leadership and conspiring against the Himachal government, he added.
After a court in Himachal framed charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act against Virbhadra Singh he was shown the door from the Union Cabinet but shortly afterwards, Congress appointed him as Pradesh Congress President. He alleged that recent steel scam exposes him further and sharp increase in his income indicates his involvement in scams. He stated that Singh, in his public speeches claimed to be innocent, on it, Sharma challenged Virbhadra Singh to write to the Prime Minister and President of India requesting for an independent and impartial inquiry into the matter
BJP General Secretary blamed Virbhadra Singh to fail to protect the interests of Himachal. He claimed that it was during the time when Virbhadra Singh was a Union Minister that the Manmohan Govt filed an affidavit opposing the legal right to 8.17 percent share in Bhakhra-Beas Management Board. Yet, the Supreme Court granted justice by ordering release of rightful share of about Rs. 5 thousand crores.
Ram Sarup Sharma even gone further and stated that Virbhadra Singh could contest from Jubbal-Kotkhai assembly segment, where from he had won with huge margin in past, but fearing a defeat at the hands of sitting BJP legislator and Minister Narinder Bragta Virbhadra sought refuge in safer pastures in Shimla Rural, he claimed.
In 2012 Himachal Assembly Election campaign, BJP has highlights issues like corruption, big scams in UPA Govt, price rise and partial attitude by central Govt. But above that BJP core team has concentrate more on Congress stalwart Virbhadra Singh. In every poll speech BJP leaders have remembered him and tried every possible means to present him as a corrupt leader. Though it’ll be early to come to the conclusion, but real verdict will give electorates on Nov 4 and results will be out on Dec 20.
