The state government has arranged helicopter service to Bara Bhangal area of Kangra district for air dropping of ration to the shepherds stranded in these areas due to sudden and untimely snowfall over the Dhauladhar ranges.
Chief Secretary B.K Agarwal said that the helicopter service would be made available on Thursday. He said 50 bags of food stuff each weighing 6-7 kilograms would also be lifted from the Gaggal airport.
The Chief Secretary said the proposed route of the helicopter would be Gaggal airport, Kangra-Jalsu Pass-Bara Bhangal (brief landing), Thamsar Pass-Khalihani Pass-Bara Bhangal-Jalsu Pass-Gaggal airport.
Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue, Manisha Nanda said the Deputy Commissioner, Kangra had on Tuesday requested the state government to provide helicopter service for air dropping of ration to the people stuck in these areas as there was possibility that they might have run out of their food stuff. After receiving this information, the state government immediately raised the matter with the Union Ministry of Defence and urged to provide a helicopter.
