The state government has approved Rs. 3.85 crore Kurgal-Naura-Takrayana irrigation scheme for Solan district which would facilitate a large number of farmers of the area and would go a long way in giving boost to vegetable production.
Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil, while interacting with the elected representatives of various panchayats of Solan district, said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh the State Government was ensuring alround development of each and every area and welfare of every section of the society. The emphasis had been given in providing health, education, drinking and irrigation facilities at the door steps of the people.
Dr. Shandil said that the long pending demand of the people of Shamti area of Solan town to construct the bypass had been accepted by the Government and the work on this six kilometres long road project had already been started and would be completed at the earliest.
The Minister said that since the climate of Solan district was conducive for vegetable production, the State Government was giving added priority to improve the infrastructural facilities. A big marketing yard was being constructed at Waknaghat which would facilitate the farmers of a large number of panchayats of Solan and Shimla rural assembly segments. Besides, four collection centres had also been approved for the district which would be established in the vegetable producing areas and the facility would not only help the farmers to market their produce but also in getting better prices.
He said that a police station would be opened at Sayri for which the Chief Minister has granted approval and people of seven panchayats of Solan constituency and 10 panchayats of Shimla Rural constituency would be benefited.
The delegation which met the Minister with Secretary of State Congress Party Harmender Thakur also raised their demands and thanked him for various developmental projects.
