After a series of illegal tree felling reports were unearthed from various parts of the state, Forest Minister Thakur Singh Bharmouri was busy giving clarifications. Now, he is accusing the opposition of blowing the issue out of proportion.
The Forest Minister, in a press statement issued through the Public Relation office, stated that strict action has been taken against the officials who have been lax in this regard.
However, Bharmouri blamed the opposition for unnecessary politicizing the issue. He expressed shock over the demand of his resignation by former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and even accused him for illicit felling of more than 11,000 trees during his tenure.
In his statement, the Forest Minister reiterated the State Government’s commitment towards conservation of forest wealth and promised to take strict action against culprits in the future as well.
