Health and Family Welfare Minister Kaul Singh Thakur presided over the District level function at Shimla. While addressing the gathering, Minister said that the State Government had taken various historical decisions aimed at welfare of all sections of the society during last one and a half years.
Thakur said that State Government was according priority for health sector. He said that State Government had decided to open medical colleges at Chamba, Hamirpur and Nahan.
Health Minister said that 638 posts of doctors and other paramedical staff had been filled in and process was on to fill in 719 posts more to provide specialized medical services to the people at their door steps. He said that new campus of IGMC worth Rs. 150 crore was coming up near Ghanahatti in Shimla district which will have 100 bedded facility for the patients besides nursing and dental colleges.
Health Minister said that Rs. 323 crore was being spent to upgrade Theog-Hatkoti-Rohru road which would go a long way in facilitating the apple growers as well as other commuters.
Chief Parliamentary Secretary Rohit Thakur, Mayor, Municipal Corporation Shimla Sanjay Chauhan and Deputy Mayor Tikender Panwar, Vice Chairman, Water Management Board Harbhajan Singh Bhajji, President, State Congress Committee Sukhvinder Singh Thakur, former MLA Adarsh Sood, Deputy Commissioner, Dinesh Malhotra, Superintendent of Police D.W. Negi and other senior officers of the State Government were also present on the occasion.
