Rohru: Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today inaugurated Rs. 12.65 crore B-Pharmacy College building at Annu (Rohru) in Shimla district and Government Offices Complex at Upper Bazaar, Rohru constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.52 Crore and Rs. 2.65 crore hostel building of Government Post Graduate Degree College, Seema.
The three-storied government offices complex will have various offices under one roof besides, the newly constructed four-storied boy’s hostel in Seema College will facilitate 105 students.
Later, Chief Minister presided over the Silver Jubilee function of Seema College and Zone-IV Inter-College Youth Festival.
Speaking on the occasion, he congratulated the staff and students of the College for organizing the function and celebrating 25 glorious years of its existence. He said this college had emerged as Centre of Excellence for higher education and so far more than 25,000 graduates had passed out from this college who were serving the Nation, while working on various important positions.
He said Himachal Pradesh had emerged as education hub of the country and the State had made rapid strides in all other major sectors.
Chief Minister directed the Education department to fill all vacant posts of teachers in far flung areas of the State on priority so that students did not suffer for want of staff. He also directed to complete the construction of library cum auditorium in B-Pharmacy College within two months.
Virbhadra Singh announced to construct Sports ground and staff quarters for the faculties of Seema College.
Chief Minister also released the souvenir of the college.
Earlier, B.L. Vinta, Principal of Seema College welcomed the Chief Minister and detailed about the itinerary. He said that Virbhadra Singh had laid foundation stone of this college and it was a matter of pride that he had graced the Silver Jubilee function with his presence. He thanked the Chief Minister for introducing master courses and various other facilities in this college to facilitate students of far flung area.
Chief Minister was accorded warm welcome by representatives of various Gram Panchayats and other organizations at different places on his arrival to Rohru.
Local MLA Mohan Lal Brakta, Ex MLA Nehar Singh Thakur, Chairman, Zila Parishad Chandreshwar Prasad, Advisor, Agro Marketing Board Devender Shyam, President Nagar Parishad Raj Kumar Neetu, former President Nagar Parishad Rohru Surender Retka, Senior Congress leader Ranvijay Negi, Advisor to Chief Minister T.G. Negi, SCA President Rohit Dhanta, Engineer in Chief, PWD, Pradeep Chauhan, Director, Higher Education Dinkar Burathoki and other prominent people of the area were present on the occasion.
