Transport Minister GS Bali inaugurated the first SRS multiplex at Shimla ISBT. SRS Multiplex has two screens on the bus stand premises. IT’s a first of its kind in Himachal Pradesh and Minister announced to start another at Dhalli.
Bali also announced to construct new bus stand at Manali, Kullu, Hamirpur and Una. It’ll cost around Rs 500 crore and all the projects are expected to be commissioned in next two years. All these new bus stands would have parking facility.
GS Bali said that new bus stands would have shopping malls, restaurants, multiplexes and other facilities and would be constructed in the design-build-operate-transfer mode under the public private partnership. He believes that it would help to improve the financial health of the corporation which has accumulated losses of Rs 650-crore.
GS Bali also announced to revive the ambitious ropeway project that was earlier announced and had to link the new bus stand at Tuti Kandi with Shimla city. It was scrapped during the previous BJP government.
Transport minister said that government is working on few plan to make city congestion free and ropeway project can help in a big way. He said that multi-storeyed modern parking lot will be constructed at Tuti Kandi near the base of the ropeway and it can ferry tourists from there to town. The ropeway will have stages to enable passengers to board and disembark en route.
