Senior Congress leader and former cabinet minister Harsh Mahajan was unanimously elected Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank (HPSCB) for a period of five years.
He was earlier elected unopposed as Director of the bank from Shimla district. Pitamber Dass Negi, Director from Kinnaur, was elected vice-chairman of the bank.
Many Congress state leaders and employees of the State Cooperative Bank hailed the victory of Mahajan and expressed confidence that the institution would grow and attain new heights under his dynamic leadership.
