Horticulture Minister Vidya Stokes stressed the need for mutual cooperation especially in sharing of technology in horticulture and floriculture sectors between Sikkim and Himachal Pradesh. She was speaking in the International Flower Show organised at Gangtok (Sikkim) today.
Stokes said that Himachal Pradesh was fast emerging as fruit State of the country while Sikkim was known as an orchid State. Therefore, both States could work together by exchanging technologies and sharing experiences for further improvement in horticulture and floriculture sectors. She added that Himachal Pradesh had also earned name as an upcoming Carnation growing State. Besides Carnation the State was also growing lilium and we could always learn from a progressive State like Sikkim.
Horticulture Minister said that two States could work together in horticulture sector especially apples, cherries, kiwi, pomegranate, prunes and nectarines. She said that Himachal was endeavouring for promoting organic farming viewing demand for organic produce.
