Virbhadra Singh led Congress government in Himachal Pradesh has ordered an inquiry into alleged benami deals struck during the tenure of the previous BJP government. Revenue Minister Kaul Singh Thakur revealed that all benami land deals of previous government would be probed as it violated the law by giving land to builders at throwaway prices. He added that the probe will look into allegations that undue benefits was given to builders by the BJP in Solan, Sirmaur and Shimla districts of the state. Govt is also looking into the violations of the Himachal Pradesh Apartment and Property Regulation Act, 2005 and has also prepared a list of builders, who were given undue benefit allegedly by the previous government.
Ever since the Congress government came into power, it has ordered a series of inquiries into the alleged scams of the previous BJP government. Govt has already ordered inquiries into allegations of phone tapping by the previous government and allotment of prime land in Solan district to Yoga guru Baba Ramdev and alleged violation of statutory provisions by Prashant Bhushan in the purchase of land, meant for tea plantation, for the use of an educational society.
