The Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited celebrated its 6th Raising Day by organising a “Health Walk” from the Ridge to the Indian Institute of Advance Studies. Around 170 employees of the corporation participated in the walk. Health Walk was flagged off by Chief Secretary Sudripto Roy.
While addressing the gathering CS said that by walking to workplace everyone can help reduce traffic congestion and air pollution and at it will also help to keep environment clean and pollution-free.
Referring to the function of the corporation, he said while ensuring techno-economic viability, environmental and social sustainability, it was necessary to be self-sufficient in energy.
The corporation had to play a key role on this front, he added. He reiterated that with the commitment and cooperation of each employee it could become a frontal organisation in the power sector.
Additonal Chief Secretary Power Deepak Sanan said he was confident that the projects entrusted to the HPPCL would come up within the stipulated time period.
Managing Director of the corporation DK Sharma gave details of the projects being executed and said the target was to generate 1,151 MW of power by 2017 and 2,350 MW by 2022.
At present, the corporation had 20 hydroelectric projects of 3,025 MW capacity in hand and the construction work of projects aggregating 896 MW was in progress.
The survey and investigation work of seven projects of 1,195 MW capacity was going on and pre-feasibility work of another seven projects was under way.
