Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh hit back at Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi over his statement on Minister of State for HRD Shashi Tharoor’s wife calling her a ”50-crore girlfriend”, Singh asked him to reveal his marital status.
Digvijay Singh in a press conference at Shimla criticised Modi for such personal attack. Singh, who is known for troubling congress opponents, claimed that he had never made personal attacks, but was now being forced to do so after Modi’s comment. Digvijay Singh said: “Why is Modi is silent about his wife’s name? If you can visit You Tube and search Narendra Modi’s wife, you will find the name Yashoda Ben as his wife.”
Digvijay Singh further claimed that Modi’s remark was not just limited to Tharoor and his wife, but it was an attack on women of this country. He stated that Modi is now trying to move out of Gujarat and become a national leader. So, he now talks less about Gujarat and talks more on national issues. He uses objectionable words against national leaders, “I condemn it, he added.
Digvijaya Singh also taunted BJP chief Nitin Gadkari, saying that he should be the star in a sequel to the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire. Many of Mr Gadkari’s companies and directors, which he is accused of using as a front to shield illegal funds and launder money, were found to be faked to addresses in Mumbai slums.
