Senior Congress leader Virbhadra Singh, who is camping in Delhi along with his loyalists from the past week, is reportedly set to become the next president of the Himachal Pradesh Congress.
If we believe reports, Virbhadra Singh has received the final signal from the party high command about his appointed as the HPCC president, who will lead the party in the upcoming Assembly polls.
Virbhadra, who had been pressuring the party high command with reports of him quitting the Congress doing rounds, had been asking for the removal of incumbent PCC president Kaul Singh Thakur. Singh was loggerhead with Kaul Singh over the working on party affair in the state and from the past many months was demanding his removal from the key post. Earlier as well demand for appointing a working president were also making rounds, as Singh was trying to appoint his loyalist on the post.
Recently, Congress president Sonia Gandhi had met Virbhadra and assured him of a “significant” role in the forthcoming polls. However, party in-charge Birender Singh Chaudhary didn’t confirm the development. Kaul Singh couldn’t be contacted for the comment.
From the past few months, Congress was looking a divided house and that posing difficulty for the party in the coming assembly poll. If Virbhadra Singh appointed party president then it will end the factionalism in the state unit and will help party to put united and strong show for the assembly poll.
