The state government has constituted a panel of experts to prepare an action plan to improve emergency services and strengthen all other faculties at the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC).

To provide better care to the increasing number of patients, the government is considering developing a full-fledged casualty department on the lines of the PGI, Chandigarh, and strengthens all departments, including a cancer hospital.

The committee comprises Principal and Medical Superintendent of the IGMC and senior officials of the Health and Family Welfare Department. The committee will prepare an action plan and list the shortcomings and offer solutions. The members have been given 15 days to study the PGI, Chandigarh, pattern and also examine how the same can be adopted at the IGMC.
