Himachal Congress senior leader and state party president Virbhadra Singh met AICC general secretary Birender Singh and other senior party leaders in New Delhi on Monday to discuss strategy for the forthcoming Assembly polls in the state.

A key issue reportedly discussed at the meeting was the reconstitution of the party’s disciplinary committee, which was headed by veteran leader Sat Mahajan, who died two days ago. Singh perturbed over the inauguration spree in state by BJP led Govt before couple of months of poll, also discussed poll strategy with other senior leaders. Virbhadra Singh, who has levelled allegation against BJP for misusing the government machinery for its advertisements, has already written to the Election Commission and apprised the EC about the present situation of the state. He also hinted to lead a delegation to EC to impose model code of conduct in state. Endorsing Virbhadra’s stand, Birender Singh has said that Congress will meet the Election Commission with specific cases of misuse of the official machinery for poll benefits.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, said that the BJP was prepared for the polls at any given time and date.
