Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that a department will educate the PRIs representatives of all Gram Panchayats of the State about disaster management. This programme will cost Rs. 50 lakh for state government.
Thakur said that training will commence from 7th May to 9th May, 2012 at Panchayati Raj Training Institute, Mashobra. One Technical Officer i.e. Assistant Engineer or Block Engineer or Junior Engineer of each Development Block will participate. In the programme participants would be educated about different aspects of disaster management during the training. He said that later a special training programme at NIT Hamirpur has also been scheduled for these trainers regarding different construction works of disaster management. The Minister said that these officers/officials would be trained to provide further training to representatives of PRIs.
