Himachal Pradesh Government has declare 16th October, 2011 as Public Holiday in the areas of those Panchayati Raj Institutions where the bye-elections are scheduled to be held. It would be a paid holiday to the daily waged employees and also within the meaning of Section 25 of Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881 working in the areas of those Panchayats where the elections are scheduled to be held.
The Deputy Commissioner, Lahaul & Spiti has been authorised to declare a public holiday on the actual date of poll in the concerned areas within his jurisdiction. The public holiday declared by the Deputy Commissioner would be applicable only in those areas where the elections/bye-election is taking place.
Special casual leave would be given to those employees who are working in different places in the State and have a right to vote in other places in the Pradesh on the production of certificate from the concerned Presiding Officer that the employees has actually cast his/her vote.
