Industries Minister & Chairman H.P. State Handicrafts & Handloom Corporation Ltd., Kishan Kapoor visited Himachal Emporium New Delhi- to take stock of presentation & display of stocks, sales, supplies, maintenance up keeping of the emporium premises, etc. He told that Himachal Emporium New Delhi registered total sales of 4.28 crore during last financial year as against the sales target of Rs. 4 crore and added that sales target of Rs. 4.50 crore had been fixed for current financial year.
While observing the sales of the emporium from April 2011 to August 2011 for the current financial year he appreciated that the emporium has already achieved 70% of the sales target by 31st August 2011. He told that the Corporation has started the scheme called Minimum Sales Guarantees through allotted counters in Himachal Emporium, New Delhi under which sale targets of Rs. 1.90 crores during 2010-11 and Rs. 3.28 crores for the year 2011-12 were achieved . He said that the scheme has proved to be a landmark in increasing the profits of the emporium and appreciated the efforts of the concerned employees of the corporation in increasing the sales in recent years.
Kishan Kapoor told that H.P. State Handicrafts & Handloom Corporations Ltd was ranked third in the country by an independent agency which conducted national wide survey on behalf of Ministry of textile in various parameters of the scheme of the Ministry such as increase in sales of products of weavers/artisans, income generation of the weavers & artisans, budget utilization, diversification of products etc in various projects, which are being implemented in the state through the financial assistance of the Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India.
Minister advised that there is a need to further increase the sales for which he suggested that efforts may be made to procure and promote the stocks of products especially in field of wooden handicrafts such as the monuments, temples, churches, and monasteries as souvenirs of wooden handicrafts of Himachal Pradesh through Himachal Emporia located within and outside Himachal Pradesh.
Earlier D. D. Sharma Manager Himachal Emporium informed the Minister about various steps taken by the Himachal Emporium New Delhi to increase the sales of its products particularly among the elite class and told that there is huge demand of ethnic Himachali Handicrafts in National capital.
