ADM Shimla to conduct magisterial inquiry of police personal for not registering FIR
Shimla: Taking strong notice of a shameful incident with a girl in Shimla town on Monday evening, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has instructed the Director General of Police to constitute a special investigation team (SIT) to conduct a thorough investigation and ensuring arrest of the culprits involved in this incident.
The Chief Minister has also directed the DGP to ensure that SIT take immediate action to arrest the culprit so that bring culprit immediately before law so that the law could take its course.
He said that Additional District Magistrate Shimla has been asked to conduct magisterial inquiry in the allegation on staff of the Lakar Bazar police post for not registering FIR on the request of the girl. The ADM will submit this report within 24 hours.
Earlier yesterday, a 19-year-old girl from Haryana was reportedly raped inside a moving car in the Dhalli area on the Shimla city. The victim had approached the police through Gudiya Helpline around 10 pm. In her complaint, the girl said she was kidnapped in a car, sexually assaulted and later abandoned in the Lower Cemetery area.
The police has registered a case under Sections 376 (rape), 354A (sexual harassment), 366 (kidnapping) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC at the Dhalli police station. The police is investigating the case and has procured CCTV footage of the area and are scanning it for clues to identify the suspect.
