Shimla: To market the hotel accommodation in the State, the Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation has started the online hotel reservation system and would be on trial for a few days till it gets stabilized.
Mohan Chauhan Commissioner Tourism informed that it will facilitate the hoteliers to book their room inventory and thus increase their occupancy. He said that the work has been assigned to the authorized General Sales Agent (GSA) for Department of Tourism. He further said that through online hotel reservation system any tourist can avail the service of online booking of hotels in the State. The URL of the portal is www.himachaltourism.online and toll free tourist helpline number is 1800-3000-6661.
Chauhan further stated the department looking forward to enhance ease of traveling and providing information to tourists through toll free tourist helpline. Currently, approx 700 hotels and around 400 Home Stay units of the State have been registered for marketing and promotion, he added.
Commissioner Tourism also sought suggestions and feedback from general public with a view of improvement in this endeavour. He also advised registered private hoteliers and home stay unit owners in the State to use the facility of marketing of their units.
