Another heritage building in Shimla was engulfed in a devastating fire. The fire at the building that housed the headquarters of Project Deepak of Border Road Organisation (BRO) broke out at around 10 PM on Saturday night.
The British era half-timbered Tudor style building also know as Minto Court is located in mid-forest area below Indian Institute of Advanced Studies (IIAS. Luckily there was no loss of life reported so far.
As per eye witness, fire started on the third floor of the building and soon engulfed its second floor. Fire tenders were pressed into service, but fire engulfed the major portion of the wooden frame of the building quickly, gives little time to the fire tender to control it. Local and police personnel also reached the spot and tried to help firemen to douse the fire.
This is the second major fire in the heritage building in Shimla in less than a year, as earlier on Jan 28 Historic Gorton Castle was gutted in fire.
