Former NSUI State Presidents accused student’s unions of Himachal Pradesh University for creating unruly scenes in the city by obstructing traffic.
In a joint statement Atul Sharma, Vice Chairman HPSIDC, Vivek Kumar and Yadhupati Thakur, termed it inappropriate and advised agitating student unions to maintain decorum in the educational institutions.
Atul Sharma said that the State Government was concerned about issues related to students and committed to redress the same at the earliest. He said that the State Government has constituted a three members Committee with retired Judge of High Court as its Chairman to look into fee hike and it would submit its report within a month to the Government.
He appealed agitating students to submit their proposal and suggestions before the Committee instead of disturbing studies and causing inconvenience to the general public.
Sharma advised student’s unions to have patience till the high powered committee submits its reports and also urged the student’s leaders not to get carried away by some vested interests who were merely trying to create furor in the name of fee-hike in a bid to remain politically alive.
Atul Sharma said that the State Government is endeavouring to make Himachal Pradesh a ‘Knowledge State’ of the country and has initiated several steps like free education to the girls, several scholarship schemes for deserving meritorious students, free travel facilities to school students in State Transport buses to achieve this objective.
