The State Government has amended the policy for admissions in Post Graduate Degree/Diploma Courses in all government and private Medical and Dental Colleges of the State. Ali R Rizvi, Principal Secretary, Health disclosed here today that as per this amendment, beginning from the academic year 2013-14 and for the next two academic sessions, the admissions would be made on the basis of 66.6 percent quota for the General Duty Officers (GDO) and 33.3 percent direct quota under the 50 percent State quota. As per the prevailing norms 90 percent seats were reserved for GDOs, which was going to increase to 95 percent from 2013-14 session. This was found impractical as adequate numbers of GDOs were not available for these courses. The total number of PG/PG Diploma seats available for the year 2013-14 would be near to 160.
He said that now GDOs quota would have two categories, one for doctors who are working on regular basis and other for doctors appointed on contract basis. The division of seats in both regular General Duty Officers and doctors on contract basis would be on the basis of their respective strength in the cadre.
The admission to PG Courses for 2013-14 would be on the basis of the National Eligibility Test conducted by the Government of India.
The application/ information brochure will be available from 16th February to 16th March, 2013 and last date of receipt of applications would be 30th March, 2013. The tentative date for counselling will be 5th April, 2013.
