While presiding over the meeting of Officers of Chamba district at Chamba, Chief Secretary S. Roy advised that all the officers of the State Government should make concerted efforts to take the welfare progressive policies and programmes of the Government to the needy and targeted groups.
He said that so far Rs. 3105 lakh had been spent under MNREGA in the district by providing employment opportunities to 46248 families adding that out of 8569 developmental works undertaken under MNREGA 2133 works had been completed.
Chief Secretary directed Rural Development Department to undertake and give priority to such works under MNREGA which may generate more employment to rural masses thereby uplift their economic status. He also stressed upon the need to promote and motivate the farmers for adopting organic farming. He also directed the Agriculture Department to provide better marketing facilities to the farmers so that they can get remunerative prices for their produce.
Roy said that people should be educated about making ‘Adhaar’ cards as it was an important document which would facilitate them in getting various benefits in Government sector as well as other sectors in future. He said that so far 95 percent work of ‘Adhaar’ cards had been completed in the State.
Chief Secretary expressed satisfaction over the developmental works undertaken in the district and directed to utilize the funds allotted to them in right perspective and complete the targets well in time. Sunil Chaudhary, Deputy Commissioner, Chamba welcoming detailed the developmental programmes being implemented in the district.
