The Himachal Pradesh Assembly today debated the no-confidence motion against the state Govt, which was tabled by opposition Congress. Soon after the question hour, Speaker Tulsi Ram informed the house that he had received a notice of no-confidence against the government and allowed the same.
The no-confidence motion was initiated by leader of opposition Vidya Stokes and was backed by 22 Congress legislators. When the Speaker asked about discussion on the no-confidence motion, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said that it should be taken up immediately and discussion on the motion started, suspending all other business.
Moving the no-confidence motion, Stokes launched a frontal attack on the government as she blamed the BJP led Govt as a “mother of corruption”. Taking a dig at the BJP, she said that both the BJP and the Government were institutions with a difference in the state that breed endless scandals and corruption.
