Hamirpur: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced that the state’s first dedicated Science College will be established in Hamirpur at an estimated cost of ₹100 crore.
Presiding over the annual prize distribution function at Government College, Hamirpur, the Chief Minister said 80 kanals of land had already been identified for the proposed college. He added that ₹20 crore had been released for the project.
The proposed institution is expected to provide students with better opportunities for higher education in science and reduce the need for students from the region to travel outside the district or state for specialised courses.
Sukhu also announced the establishment of an Allied and Healthcare College in Hamirpur. The institution is expected to strengthen education and training in allied health disciplines and create additional opportunities for students seeking careers in the healthcare sector.
In another major announcement, the Chief Minister said an AIIMS-level Ayurvedic institute would be established in Hamirpur. According to him, 74 acres of land has been earmarked for the proposed institute.
The three announcements are expected to give a major boost to higher education and professional training infrastructure in Hamirpur, with a focus on science, healthcare and traditional systems of medicine.
