Manali: Eleven people including three children and five women have been killed after a car rolled down a hill at Rahni Nallah near Rohtang in Kullu district on late Wednesday night.
Ill-fated vehicle HP-45 7000 was on its way from Manali to Pangi in Chamba district.
Passersby saw the badly damaged SUV in the gorge at Rahni Nalla and informed the police. A rescue team was then rushed to the spot and the bodies were retrieved.
Police have initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause, and from initial investigation bad weather and dense fog in the area are to be prima facie reasons behind the accident.
Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur have expressed grief over death of 11 people in a road accident.
They Governor has expressed his sympathies with the bereaved family members and prayed to the Almighty for peace of the departed souls.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government was with the family members at this time of distress and all possible assistance would be provided to the bereaved family members.
He prayed for peace of the departed souls and strength to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss.
