Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has rejected the newspaper reporting of alleged trafficking of girls from Shillai and Trans-Giri areas of Sirmaur district to the neighboring states under the garb of marriages.
The Chief Minister termed the claims fabricated, highly objectionable and defamatory. Singh termed that trafficking of girls in the name of marriage totally deceptive and the news has deeply hurt the women in particular of Shillai and Transgiri areas. He said
“It has hurt the sentiments of the people of the State, particularly the residents of the Sirmaur district, as no such case has come to the notice of the police and has neither been registered with the police”
Virbhadra Singh has asked the Newspaper to apologise for unethical reporting and the defamatory language. This is shameful and unethical on the part of the paper for reporting and publishing such news, which has crossed all the limits of journalistic ethics and not based on facts, said the Chief Minister.
The Chairperson of Women Commission has also visited the area and found no truth in allegations. In fact, some marriages have taken place in normal course over a period of time outside Himachal, and chief minister stated that those involved in this conspiracy have no right to ask that why the girls of the State, including those of Sirmour, were marrying outside the State.
Virbhadra Singh also cautioned to take strong action against such report and made clear of not tolerating such conspiracy to defame the State and its daughters. The Chief Minster gave a call to reveal such faces that were playing dirty politics defaming the State.
