‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’ initiative, launched by Una Administration, yielding results as it has succeeded in increasing Child Sex Ratio to 900 from 875 against one thousand male child as per census 2011 figure.
Industries Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, speaking at Gondpur Bulla in Haroli assembly segment in Una District today, appreciated the efforts of district administration for improving Child Sex Ratio and said that as per survey conducted by the health department the increase was observed 25 percent.
Agnihotri said that Una district was being counted amongst the rapidly developing districts and it was regrettable that the Child Sex Ratio of Una was the lowest in the state, which he said to be a stain on the image of the district. He said that during last three years against the target of 10 per cent increase of Child Sex Ratio it was 25 per cent.
The Minister hoped for better results in future with the concerted efforts of district administration, Panchayati Raj Institutions and above all cooperation of the masses.
Deputy Commissioner Una Abhishek Jain said that a mass awareness campaign was launched in the district under ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’ to increase the Child Sex Ratio under which various awareness camps were organised with the coordination of people especially women folk.
Jain said that during one year more than 50 camps were organised in the district. He said that sign boards depicting Child Sex Ratio were installed in all the panchayats of the districts and those industries which provided employment to more women were honoured. He said that four senior secondary schools were also honoured which enrolled cent per cent girls in 10th and 11th classes besides schools having maximum girls students were also being honoured.
