Alleging violation of the Section 118 of the Himachal Pradesh Tenancy and Land Reforms Act, 1972, the Himachal Pradesh Government has ordered to vest land given to Kumad Bhushan Education Society for constructing an educational institute, promoted by Aam Admi Party leader Prashant Bhushan, in the name of the Government.
Kangra Deputy Commissioner C Paulrasu has passed the order. Paulrasu clarified that the society was allotted land for the construction of a school, but it failed to meet the purpose for which permission was given.
Kumad Bhushan Education Society had bought about 4.66 hectares tea garden land at Kamlegarh village in Palampur and during the BJP led state Government Society procured necessary permission from the concerned department.
The sale deed of the land was registered by the educational society in March, 2010. Then opposition party Congress had objected the government nod to the society and blamed Govt for violating statutory provisions in extending favours to the society. Later in 2012 when Congress came into power in the state issued a notice to the Society alleging non utilisation of the land for the last two years.
The Kumud Bhushan Educational Society termed the decision “highly unfortunate” and said the district administration had acted on the directions of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.
