Shimla: Umang Foundation, a public welfare trust, has organised a blood donation camp, which was inaugurated by two visually impaired students – Shisupal and Suraj by donating blood in Shimla here today.
It was 8th camp of the Umang Foundation during this year, organized to support Indira Gandhi Medical College Blood Bank, where as many as 85 persons donated blood.
Ajai Srivastava, chairman of Umang Foundation said that Shishupal and Suraj were happy to donate blood. Both are among five the students with visual disability studying who have been adopted by Umang Foundation for higher education and studying in Government College, Sanjauli.
Shishupal thanked the Umang Foundation for giving him an opportunity to save other’s lives by donating blood, while Suraj desired to donate blood again in the future. Other students with visual disabilities, Vinod Sharma, Ajay Kumar, Kushal and Indu Kumari also extended their voluntary services in organizing the camp.
Dr. Sandeep Malhotra, blood bank officer, appreciated visually impaired students and said that it will help in changing mind-set of the people.
Ajai Srivastava said that the Umang Foundation is making all possible efforts to provide equal opportunity and full participation to the persons with disabilities in all walks of life.
