Shimla: In a meeting of State Appropriate Authority with State Advisory Committee under Pre-Conception and Pre- Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act (PC &PNDT), Hans Raj Sharma, Director, Health Safety and Regulations claimed that the effective steps were being taken to monitor the misuse of Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques and efforts were on to further improve the sex ratio in the State.
Sharma said that more workshops would be organized in the State to ensure effective implementation of the Act and mobilize people for improvement in child sex ratio. He said that a target had been fixed to enhance the child sex ratio to 950 in the State by the end of year 2017.
The Director disclosed that so far 254 clinics in private and government sectors were registered in the State. Dr. Surekha Chopra, Member Secretary of the Authority conducted the proceedings of the meeting.
