The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau registered a case against retired Director General of Police DS Manhas for alleged misuse of his official position when he was commissioner of the Shimla Municipal Corporation.
Manhas was booked under section 120-B of the Indian Penal Code, section 13-B of the Prevention of Corruption Act and various sections of the Shimla Municipal Corporation Act.
Vigilance claiming for the enough evidence of exercising personal influence by Manhas for getting cleared serious violations and encroachment in the construction of his house located on the Forest Road near St Bede’s College.
The Home Department had last week directed the Vigilance Bureau to register an FIR against Manhas for alleged violations in the construction of his house.
It’s learned that the Shimla Municipal Corporation and state urban development department had complained to the vigilance bureau about violations in Manhas’s house.
