Forest and Fisheries Minister Thakur Singh Bharmouri asked for police protection to all the shepherds in the State during their movement from one place to another in view of threat posed by robbers and other anti social elements who are involved in stealing their sheep and goats particularly in Kangra, Hamirpur, Kullu, Sirmaur and Una districts. He said that he had received a complaint from the community regarding incidence of theft. He said that licensed guns should be provided to the shepherds for the protection of their properties.

Bharmouri asked all the Superintendents of Police to provide police protection to all the shepherds by deputing flying squads within the jurisdiction of their districts.
