Governor Urmila Singh visited the Kee monastery in Spiti valley of Lahaul Spiti district today. She went around the gompa complex and appreciated the paintings, murals and architecture of the monastery. She also witnessed the traditional Chhamb dance of monks.
Addressing the gathering, Urmila Singh said that the culture of Lahaul and Spiti was unique which had been preserved by the local people over the years. She said that every effort should be made to preserve rich culture and traditions as they were our identity.
She gave a patient hearing to the demands put by local representatives and assured that the issues would be taken up on priority at appropriate level for redressal of their grievances.
Ravi Thakur, local MLA honoured the Governor with traditional shawl and cap on the occasion. He also thanked for her concern towards the people of the area. Sohan Singh, Member Tribal Advisory Council welcomed the Governor. He also apprised her of various problems of the area.
Earlier, Governor was accorded rousing welcome at Kaza helipad by the local MLA Ravi Thakur, Sohan Singh and Dabla Tarageyi Members of Tribal Advisory Council, officers of the local administration and prominent people of the area.
