The State Election Commission has notified the Election programme for the conduct of bye-election to Ward No. 8 of Nagar Panchayat Mehatpur in district Una.
A Spokesman of the Commission said that the nomination papers would be filed on 21st, 22nd and 23rd August, 2013 between 11.00 AM to 3.00 PM at the place, and before the officer appointed by the Returning Officer (Deputy Commissioner). Nomination papers would be scrutinized on 24th August, 2013 from 10.00 AM onwards. He said that the candidate may withdraw his candidature on 26th August, 2013 before 3.00 PM and the list of contesting candidates showing the name of symbol allotted to them would be prepared and affixed on 26th August, 2013 immediately after the time of withdrawal was over.
He said that the list of polling stations would be pasted on or before 21st August, 2013 and the poll, if necessary, would be held on 10th September, 2013 from 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM. He said that the counting, in event of poll would be done on 10th September, 2013 immediately after the close of poll, in secure and suitable premises within the concerned Municipal Area as may be chosen/ specified by the Returning Officer. The result of election would be declared immediately after the counting was over and the election process would be completed on 12th September, 2013, he added.
