Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh released two books titled “Seb Baagwani Aur Vividhikaran” and “ Historical Profile of RHRS Mashobra and temperate fruit production” written by Dr. Vijay Singh Thakur, Associate Director (Research and Extension) and his team of Scientists from Regional Horticultural Research Station Mashobra, Shimla of Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry Nauni, Solan.
Virbhadra Singh lauded the sincere efforts of Dr. Thakur and his team for putting in hard work and their experience for publication of these useful books. He said that these books would help the farming community of the State, research scholars and horticulturists. He said that writers had penned the vital information about fruit culture, orchard management of apple, pear, cherry and other temperate fruits in simple language and more than 500 questions frequently asked by farmers alongwith their solutions have been addressed properly.
Chief Minister said that horticulture had always been a vital sector and economic activity, which had remained priority of the successive Congress Governments. He said that there was an urgent need to rejuvenate the old declining orchards with the latest new varieties having more production capability. He stressed upon the scientific community to come up with latest research and development efforts required for overall development of the horticulture and floriculture sector in the State.
