On account of Mandi Lok Sabha Constituency bye-election, 27 June, 2013 has been declared Gazetted holiday in Kinnaur assembly segment to enable the employees working in all government offices/Boards/ Corporations/educational institutions and industrial establishments of Himachal Pradesh to exercise their right to franchise.
A Spokesman of the State Government said that this would also be a paid holiday to daily wage employees and also within the meaning of Section 25 of Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881.
He further clarified that special casual leave may be given to those employees who were working in different places in the State but have right to vote in other constituencies/places in the State on the production of certificate of concerned Presiding Officer that the employee had actually cast his/her vote.
Other part of Mandi parliamentary Constituency has polled on scheduled 23rd June. The date of Mnadi by-poll was deferred for 27th June due to the heavy rainfall followed by major landslides, which has put normal life out of gear in hilly region of state. Thousands of tourists were also stranded at Sangla, Rekong Peo and other parts of district and till today administration was only evacuating them. Most part of district were cut off from outer world as all roads major and connecting were damaged heavily from landslides.
